The main highlights of the Centauri 1 Power Station 168MW are summarised below:
The local government administrations of The Shire of Irwin and The Shire of Greenough and the Mid West Development Commission have fully supported the Project and its development. Local infrastructure is at a level that does not impede the Project development.
The location of the proposed power station is outside the influence of 91% of W.A. power generation locations. This makes the Project a high priority for development and connection, these thoughts are shared by the community, customers and both the government and opposition parties.
The grid power connection at this point will reverse a power transmission loss of up to 20% that currently exists with the 132 Kva system from Perth to Geraldton. This efficiency increase will promote significant growth in local industry and potential "future customers" for the Company.
The proposed power plants are standard GE Energy LM 6000 gas turbines that are proven and reliable units, which have been efficiently operated in W.A. conditions for more than 10 years.
The resources are all in the same geographical area, making operations efficient and allowing an economical use of manpower and time, thereby maximising use of funds in the appraisal stage of the CSM.
There is neither foreseen Aboriginal Title Claim or registration, nor Aboriginal Heritage issues on the sites, since tenements are all on freehold land titles. All such subject land has been excised from the tenements.
